Marcus: Hey, I am Marcus Eikenberry and I'm here with Garrett, who is the affiliate manager for Shattered Crystal.
Garrett: Hi!
Marcus: We are going to talk a about why you should become an affiliate with Shattered Crystal if you have a kick-ass website.
Garrett: What exactly is the affiliate program?
Marcus: The affiliate program is not something that is unique to just us. Its a program that allows you to put a link up on your site to us. In exchange, if someone clicks on the link and makes a purchase, we will pay a percentage. In cash.
Garrett: Exactly how much will you pay out?
Marcus: Most of the items are 5% because there is a really low margin on codes. Other items like currency, like UO currency, its 10%. Other items are even up to 50% but those items are pretty rare.
Garrett: How will your system recognize that I made a sale?
Marcus: When you sign up for the affiliate program it actually gives you a code that allows you to put in a particular URL to link to us. That URL has a code number in it that tells the system when someone clicks on it that it came from your site.
Garrett: Will there be some where that I can check that tracks my stats, how many clicks I have or how much I've earned?
Marcus: Yes. There is a control panel whenever you log in that gives you statistics and shows you how many people have clicked. It shows you how many people have made a purchase and it even shows you information about the items sold and how much you have earned.
Garrett: Does the program cost anything to have this account?
Marcus: No. We dont charge you anything, in fact, the only thing it will cost you is five minutes of your time to sign up and five minutes of your time to put the link up.
Garrett: Do I need to run a website in order to benefit from the program?
Marcus: Most people who sign up for this do run a website but its not required. We have some people who are forum posters; they just put the link in their tag line. Not all forums allow that but some do. If you had a nice big email list for your game you could even put it in email. You don't have to have a website.
Garrett: If I need help with anything that you didn't cover in this interview, who could I contact?
Marcus: Well, Garrett, here who is asking the questions, he is the man for the affiliate stuff. He will help you get signed up, set up, and get paid up.

CCP Exception
There is one exception to affiliate credits. CCP has requested of us that when we sell EVE gametime codes that if the affiliate and the buyer are the same person. The system will not credit any affiliate commission.
This is a request from CCP. This is the only exception in our affiliate system. The system will still work normally if a visitor to your site uses the link to purchase. You will get credit. But purchasing through your own link will result in it showing the sale but the commission will be $.0.00.
